But will it still be doing a sub 6 second 0-60 time after 15 years and 200k?

Yes, probably. Those engines are bomb proof.

Epic mid range...

I'm not convinced that any FWD car will do 0-60 in 6 seconds on "normal" road tyres without a limited slip differential, however much power you give it?

ETA: Not the Soarer, obviously.

I'd agree, bloody strong engines. Maptun appear to be quite a thorough tuner compared to others too. Saab 9000's can be done up to something daft like Maptun Stage 7 state of tune with 500bhp or so...

Cornering though? Although that's not part of the OP's brief smile

£1400 MR2 Turbo, will get under 6 seconds EASY (mid engine, RWD, at least 200bhp standard).

A few hundred pounds and a 2 days at Abbott Racing would make it surprisingly competent around the bends as well...

Change left to up the boost with a chip

300zx twin turbo, this might manage one 0-60 run though there are a few nicer slightly more expensive ones out there. http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/2211767.htm

3000GTO a money pit but should be quick in a straight line http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/2251369.htm

A standard T5-R won't do 0-60 sub 6 seconds. Didn't see in the ad if it's an auto (and the pics don't work at work) but even the manual will be in the high 6s. Mine is an auto with more power than standard and is in the 6s. They are quick cars but only when they get going.

Me and a pal bought a mini for £500 as a project, 1.4 with 120bhp, would apparently keep up (even off the line) with Impreza stis. That would get my vote but obviously no link to it!!

I had a standard T5, they are quickish (in the sevens) but a remap wont get them under six, even as standard the limitation was gettign traction, my current Saab 9-3 Aero has alledgedly 247 bhp and I would reckon that is just under seven to sixty on a good day and that hooks up a lot better than the Volvo ever did.

A Rover 220 Turbo coupe was just over 6s IIRC for £800
http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/2252309.htm

That one with the optional NOS kit for an additional £400 notes would probably get it into the required ballpark.

Here's a better contender, Legacy twin turbo, 280bhp and 4wd must mean mid to low 5's for a grand

£6k will get you a TVR Griffith..... ok so its a bit 'expensive' but it will get you to 60 in 4.8sec

Its a tough one actually. All the ones ive thought of such as

Startlet Galanza
T5's
S8
all the big engined mercs and BMWs

All seem to be between 6.5 - 7.5 secs
