What de-icer should I buy? Can someone recommend me a scraper? Which screenwash is best? Should I buy it concentrated or pre-diluted? Will I damage my car by letting it sit and warm up / defrost in the mornings? I need a 4x4 (no, really I do, I live on a hill and everything!) I got stuck for about 5 mins last year, so I need chains, or are these socks any good? Should I buy winter tyres? Should I get two sets of wheels to put them on? Do I need to tell my insurance company? Oh look it's snowing, so much for global warming! Why don't people defrost their cars properly like I do? Someone crashed into me! Who can I sue? Someone put their foglight on this morning, can I legally kill them? What kind of jacket should I get? What if I'm cold? Should I wear a hat? How do I set my central heating in winter? Should I get a wood burning stove? I slipped on some ice, who can I sue? My council has almost (but not quite) run out of salt, can I sue them? Why is everyone (except me) so bad at driving in the snow? Someone has slid into my car and it has caused some/very little/no damage, should I have whiplash and can I sue them? Potholes; have you seen the size of these potholes, won't someone think of the children!? Someone should do something.

That should cover it.

Cheers,

FT.

You missed the mocking of BMW drivers stuck on hills that a Daewoo Matiz could get up, too.

I think we need a thread to discuss driving on ice that has oil on it.

Is it best to try and power out even if I can feel my tread blocks moving?

Precise and to the point.

I have heard before that leaving a car sitting there warming up, idling.. Is bad for it? (I sometimes go out to the car, heaters on, lock the door again with the spare key and go back inside for ten minutes..)

True or False?

It won't work.

You need a thousand meaningless anecdotes which prove nothing.

You forgot to argue that at exactly 7 degrees C normal tyres turn to blocks of ice coated with lard, teflon and banana skin extract and using them instead of proper winter tyres designed for north of the arctic circle is tantamount to being a paedophile quite frankly.

True or False?
False. Letting the engine get up to a decent temperature before driving a car is a good idea.

But sat there idling, rather than driving slowly/low revs?

Should you take one look at yourself in a mirror and ask yourself why you are so incompetent that you just had to ask all of those questions on PH?

Answer. Yes

That's right, and winter tyres run above 10C turn into silly putty.

Lots of people would disagree. Starting with S6 TVR owners.
