Solar Trickle Charger

Hello there!

Some times I have to leave my car standing for a month or so.

I thought I would buy a solar powered trickle charger to keep the battery topped up during the winter. The panel sits on the top of the dashboard, and it plugs in to the cigarette lighter. There is also an option to connect direct to the battery with crocodile clips if required.

My question is, is there any possiblity of damaging the battery or electrics with such a charger? Also if anyone has used a solar charger, did you find it was effective or not?
