Simple question, but one to which I can not find a simple answer anywhere else online. So here will have to do.

Car is currently SORN, but has MOT, insurance etc. etc. I want to buy tax beginning December 1st. Is the first day I can apply for this December 1st? Or is there some leeway? I would prefer ordering it online.

I know there is some leeway for cars with tax due to expire, but can't find info on cars currently SORN. If I apply for tax now it wants to date it from 1st November.

the soonest i could do a tax on a sorn car was 3 days before the month started, i tried earlier and it went back to the begining of the month so i would have lost a months tax.

Government website appears to suggest two days before start of month:

If your vehicle has been untaxed, because you’ve just bought it, the tax disc has run out or a SORN is in force, you can tax from the first day of the month in which you apply.

If you want the tax disc to start on the first day of the next calendar month, you cannot tax your vehicle more than two days in advance.
