MY 04 BMW Z4 but 2.5 or 3.0 Help please??

I have narrowed down my car search to a MY 04 BMW Z4, but it appears that the 3.0 version has a better MPG figure than the 2.5 is this true? Also how many miles do you Z4 owners get out of the 50 liter tank.

Any thoughts on this would be well received

3.0 all the way. Not sure about better mpg, but certainly no worse...
