Hello Folks!
I'm getting divorced not nice but let's move on to something more interesting.
Out of the settlement I intend to buy myself a little present, I'm looking for an everyday car with lot's of beef, must have at least 2 seats, 2+2 ok but prefer usable seats, can't be something classed a "hair dressers car", not a boy racer either, must also do 20+ mpg, I get bored very easily with cars and tend to change every 2 years so this needs to grab my attention look & sound good. I used to own a Maserati 4200 GT Coupe, loved it but the ex-wife forced me to rid of it, love the Granturismo as this (don't laugh) has room in the boot for my golf clubs so a decent boot would help!
So guys and gals I need your suggestions!
Oh yes, budget up to £50k!!! Must not be more than 3 yrs old and another major factor is that I'm 6'4" 17 stone, 48 yrs old (feels like I'm filling a dating profile).

What will you be using the car for....daily commute/weekend car/track-days?
Far too broad a subject area at the moment for a bunch of car enthusiasts to deal with; we need strict rules otherwise you are going to end up with about 500 different suggestions, all of which will more than likely carry some decent merit.
ps buy a Ferrari 360 Spider....for the noise alone!

Thanks Guy,
The mpg is required as I will be using this car every day, no track days, need more acceleration than top end but most as restricted to 155mph. I have a BMW 530d touring at the moment, good car but getting bored and things are beginning to go wrong.
In summary to my request for help: -
1. Needs to sound good.
2. Needs 4 seats.
3. Needs a boot for my golf clubs.
4. Needs to look good (only wish that Alfa made something beefy)
5. 20mpg plus.
6. Will not be used on track days.
7. Will be used everyday (15,000 miles a year)
8. Budget up to £50k

none of the cars that anyone has suggested will do 20 mph
I think they will....+1.
I googled it not ten minutes ago when someone mentioned a GTR, thinking "No f
king way, 20mpg? That'll be right!"Seemingly, official average consumption is 22mpg.

Not mentioned thus far - Jag XFR? 5.0 Supercharged. Got the badge, got the comfort, got the grunt, i think its a looker, and Jag reckon 22.5 mpg (combined). Plenty of room for your golf bats, and its a proper 4 seater.
