I am looking to spend 25k on either aBMW 330d covertible or A5 coupe 3.0 quattro and i am dithering on which one to buy any ideas on the matter or if you have either car let me know the pros and cons.

I am open minded if you think their are ohter cars in that bracket i should consider, it is just for me as i am keeping our family saloon for the wife and 2 kids.

If you're keeping the family wagon, what's this car for?

Why diesel? (Assuming the Audi is diesel too, don't think they use the 3.0 petrol anymore?)

If it's absolutely got to be one of them, BMW, but i'd much much rather have a 330 petrol, or a Z4 3.0
its for work the audi is diesel as well, my company will pay for half the costs of petrol and service, it has to be at a 4 seater so i can use it for the family if i neeed to so z4 is out, it does not have to be a diesel but my trips will be around south london and surrey, kent, berks borders

Just an FYI but my friend has had a fair few problems with the roof on his 335d. That and its had three alloy replacements of which he had to pay the last one. Not pleased doesnt really cover it.

The Jag XF might be worth a look as will be within budget as will a Phaeton. Are you looking for Coupe or cab?

Any reason that the 3-series coupe isn't on your list? Not sure I'd trust one of these complex foldy metal roofs not to leave me stuck with the roof open in the rain.

What about a 135i?

Rear seats are fine for wimmin & kids, and you can even get a cab version too if that's your thing.

Be very careful on tax liability.. so check the HMRC liabilities on a used car as it's probably quite complex and higher than you think.

Sorry - to answer your question, I'd go for the A5. I have driven both and although the 335 is quicker, the A5 is a nicer place to be. Ensure it has BOSE and the full MMI.

yes i know i looked into it and thats why i am spending my own money and not leasing, i will then charge my company 450 pounds a month for its use.
i have defo added the xf to the 2 car list but i dont want a 1 series.

Cool - just hate you to be sprung with a nasty surprise!

Wild card; S4 convertible with a lovely V8 noise?

i do like the audi convertible a bit frightened of fuel economy on the s4 though
