There is an engine in Surrey I want to buy, and I live in Cheshire.

Who are the best people to use?

Its a 6-cylinder cast iron block, so its quite heavy. I'm just wondering if its cheaper than going down and getting it myself.

I'd do it yourself, you'll know it has been packed and handled properly then. Rent a Trannie Van for the day...

Agree with this tbh...
Delivery drivers tend to be careless dunderheads - if you do it yourself, it'll only be your own fault if it's damaged in transit (van, hah, pun intended...) :P

I'd see it as an excuse for a little road trip in a transit smile

If you have it couriered, just make sure it is empty of all fluids... then it won't matter what angle they rest it at.

If you leave oil etc in there and tilt it over you'll end up with it in places you don't want it. So my garage told me when we went to collect a secondhand lump for a cab smile

I've got pics somewhere. But I once drove 250 miles round trip to collect a Landy Tdi engine in the back of a Pug 106 hehe

I say go get it yourself.

Likewise me and a mate collected a VR6 engine and that went in the back of a 106, blooooooody hard work that.

Transit vav and engine hoist is the safer better option.

Right thanks everyone!

Sounds like a bit of a road tip is in order.

Try palletline, but the seller will have to secure it to a Europallet. Should cost about £100.00

We picked up a yacht engine in a 106 also

Alot easier to load when you pop the gas struts off and open the boot all the way and then lower the engine in with a forklift
