Remote Car Purchase

Seen a car miles from home, agreed the purchase.
Car being delivered via transporter. Any recommendations on how it should be paid for: i.e. before or after the vehicle is physically in my posession?
Dealer is reluctant to let the car go on to the transport without full payment up front.
Advice welcome.

Credit Card - then the card issuer has joint liability.

Given that you haven't physically seen it and it already exists (i.e. is not being built to order) Distance Selling Regs may also give you some protection.
