How much are lorries?

Going through manufacturers websites, none seem to have prices on them.

How much is a brand new Merc Actros or Volvo 6x4 unit, for example?

Anything from £60k for the cheaper brands like Mercedes through to £80k for Volvo et al.

As you can well imagine there are lots of various options and configurations to choose from. Easy to spend well north of £100k on just the tractor unit. My father has just purchased a new Volvo and the brouchure was mind bending!

L100NYY's right - DAF's can be found in the lower price brackets too. By the time you've bought a trailer too £250k can be spent easily.

Are the options on lorries to do with luxury (eg beds, power, tv etc.) or technical things - like gears, hydraulics/air etc?

Options can be from seats to the ratios of the drive axle, there are so much things to consider when buying one

6x4 day cab, good luck that's not exactly a common configuration and if you do find it, it will likely be an ex council landfill Volvo ERF or Foden

Both really. Built in flat screen televisions to low range gearboxes and everyting inbetween. A tractor unit really can be a bespoke device.

They're not as desirable on the used market as sleepers are.

For a day cab I would hazzard a guess at £50k.

Nah. Way more than that.

6x4, with at least a 440 motor. They're more than £50k at 3 years old.

6x4 tractors tend to be rarer than 6x2's aswell so may command a higher premium.

ETA: As someone has said day cab tractors which are 6x4 are favoured by the construction industry - like this one:

If I were you I wouldn't touch a 6x4 unit in day cab format unless you intend to keep it until it's worthless, a highly undesirable combination for resale.

Yeah, but do you know how much one is?

I only drove them, but I'll be honest I don't think you will see much change from £90-100k at least, but ultimately it depends what you intend to do with it, for example a 6x4 on landfill work will not be suitable for heavy haulage applications so as such you can't really put a "how much" label on one
