New car stolen without keys?
Discussion
Sounds very odd to me.
New cars aren't impossible to steal, obviously, but are very difficult to steal without the keys. You're basically restricted to Lifting them/towing them.
I wouldn't be surprised if it was perhaps a debt collector taking the car back, simply because I can't think of any reason why someone would go to the effort for a '10 corsa otherwise. The other option is that it was parked incorrectly and the council have towed it. At the moment about 75% of 'theft' reports I deal with are due to a car being towed or even someone forgetting where they've parked it.

There are but they are expensive and used by professional teams. They would also bypass locks ( so no need to smash the window). They are also unlikely to steal a bog standard corsa ( unless it's a Vxr) as they target high end cars and special vehicles.
Majority of car thieves burgle and don't have the technology to bypass stuff without keys. They also don't carry it as they regularly get stopped and turned over so rarely have any burgling gear on them. They use stuff they find at scene.
Broken window would suggest towing but again it seems an odd car plus they'd still have to get pass the security which is lots of effort for a corsa.

As Mr_Annie says it is likely that the window was smashed to lift the handbrake and roll the car to somewhere quiet to tow it away.
The window that was smashed was in fact one of little ones. The only thing I can think of is that they stole it to break it?Let us know if it turns up with accident damage...
Deffo sounds like a repo, people always seem to tell neighbours or friends its been stolen or gone back to dealer for major fault................hotwiring cars is a thing of the past, certainly last 10 years, so to smash a window is, as already said, a way to get handbrake off and out of gear, would imagine repo people had a "dolly" to remove, as with tilt/slide, the winch should just drag it on.

The car was found on Monday. It had been towed away by an un-registered land rover. 4 other cars were taken on the same night and dragged a few miles into the countryside and then stripped for parts and the remains set on fire!
Very bizare. What where the other cars?Gassing Station | General Gassing [Archive] | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
