does anyone else use the cheaper stuff in cold weather? It seems to be getting harder to find a pump that delivers 98+, and i don't notice any adverse affects even though both my cars run better with 98 in warmer weather. Oh, and it saves a few pennies not that i'm tight or anything like that ..

No, because I use what the manufacturer recommends and I don't fancy another melted piston. SU seems to be much more available around here than it used to be, the majority of petrol stations have some kind of higher octane option.

My car runs fine on 95 all year. I hadn't noticed a reduction in the number of super unleaded pumps, though?

I've never had to put regular unleaded in my car, I would in fact say I cannot think of a BP/shell/ that doesn't sell superunleaded. And there are plenty of them about!

Depends what part of the country you are in. Super can be hard to come by in some parts of Wales and Scotland for instance (the good bits too!)

The OP is in London according to his profile though confused
