Reverse night time car identification game shame
Discussion
Ok, so I do this nerdy thing of trying to identify cars purely by the shape of their headlights at night. It often surprises me at quite how awesome I am and that I should probably get some sort of medal for my nerdiness.
However, I'm never able to distinguish between a 997 and a MINI at night and this makes me want to cry.

Ahh right, as pretty much nothing gets past me, you must be slow, i play it as they are coming towards me
I'm typically driving a 12-year old automatic Mondeo. You can see why I play it my way

If I'm on the Fireblade, the game changes to 'WTF was that I just passed with a 100mph differential'.

Won't the Mini have those stupid foglightish sidelights underneath the main beams?

You beat me to it. OP - epic fail!!11!!oneone1!

We had a similar thing with how good different rear reflectors were last weekend driving back from Southampton. Generally VW's were good, with reflectors in the bottoms of the bumpers, Jaguar XF was rubbish, with the reflector across the top of the lights and too high to be in a headlight beam. The things you do when not having the radio on to avoid hearing the news of the F1 results

I usually prefer driving my local roads at night as you get a better idea of what's coming up ahead from the beams of the oncoming cars giving warning before they come around a bend.
That said, one of my most trouser filling moments was at night when approaching an oncoming vehicle in the distance. The car was some way off in the distance, and should have left plenty of room to straight line the "S" kink in the road immediately infront of me ...... Thing is, those pesky early Land Rovers are actually a lot closer than they appear at night, with their headlights so close together :yike:
