Merdad Reveals Two-Door Cayenne

How to blur the line between Cayman and Cayenne...

Fledgling British tuner Merdad has revealed its two-door take on the Porsche Cayenne – the 902 Coupe.

Although Merdad revealed its plans for the 902 Coupe back in June, this is the first time the coupe Cayenne – a niche that even Porsche hasn’t seen fit to fill, we ought to point out - has been seen in the metal.

Aside from a 750bhp version of the 4.8-litree twin-turbo unit from the regular Cayenne, the 902 Coupe also features a bespoke leather interior, a unique body kit, something called a Merdad ‘Super sound’ exhaust system (whatever that means), 22-inch wheels and the ability to electronically lower the car by 40mm.

Following its recent debut at the MPH show, the 902 will also be on display at the Essen motor show in Germany from 26 November – should you wish to check it out in person.

Oh, and if that doesn’t float your boat, there’s a ‘regular’ version of the Merdad Cayenne with a full complement of doors, as well as a Merdad-ised Range Rover Sport.

It's all a bit footballer but I think if I won the lottery I could be tempted just for a laugh.

Maybe this is what the Cayenne needed to finally grow up into a beautiful (black) swan?
Looks lovely, I expect it's much more impressive in the flesh. Good to see some taste applied.

Shame about the Rangie though...

Looks better than a 4 door but the concept is just so wrong. I don;t get cars that are just unnecessarily huge.

I quite like the styling paperbag But can't really see the point if i'm honest.

Then again, if you're wealthy enough to afford this sort of conversion, then I suppose you could have the 4 door version too.

Very current IMO. Will be much faster on our roads and our speedbumps than pretty much anything else.

Quite a looker for a 4x4 too.

I like the way they've made it so shiny and black that you can't actually see the bloody shape or the door lines on the thing....

Nope, it wasn't this, it was a lot plainer looking. Pretty much a bog standard Cayenne with 3 doors

But unnecessarily fast/luxurious/etc are OK?

Would be nice if it wasn't in black, or was dirty, so that we could see it properly tongue out

Hmm, no profile? Methinks it must be horrid.

Anyways "murdered"? Classy is Bradford, maybe.

I saw the car at Earl's Court - I thought it looked great. They've done a good job. It's not very everyone, but will no doubt appeal to its target market - the seriously rich who want to spend £300k on something a bit different.

Merdad used to be the agent for Gemballa in the UK.

Glad I'm not the only one - I saw a silver three-door Cayenne behind a Porsche dealership in Liverpool about six years ago. It had a disguise panel over the front end and there was black tape following the section the rear door line would usually take through the bodywork, but there was no rear doorhandle, the wheelbase was clearly shorter than the standard car parked next to it, and the tape seemed to be covering a panel gap rather than a door jamb.

A step up from the White X6 or Kahn Range Rover Sports though.

Entrepreneurs of dubious character form an orderly queue.

It compensates for some men . . . I guess that's why women drive them Cayennes.
