Ok I have been thinking (since someone thought the wheel was a good idea) about getting a second car and which one to get.

Having owned a silver car for 8 years I really don't want my other car to be the same colour. Just wondering if people think colour is really an issue and whether they would be bothered at having two cars the same colour.

Absolutely, if it was one of my favourite colours!

Which are either boring silver, grey or red, the latter being my favourite

You'd struggle if you were a Mercedes fan!

It isn't actually something I've considered, but possibly it'll get a bit creepy if it looks like his and hers matching cars.

Wouldn't bother me. However, with regard to colours, I've found that there is more work to be done with the colours I like.

I mean, I love dark colours like midnight blue and black, but by 'eck, they're a bugger to keep clean. Lighter colours like silver don't show the dirt anywhere near as much. And as a bit of a detail fetishist, I like clean and shiny.

So maybe, nice ride in the garage = dark moody colour, winter daily drive = lighter colour?

I have no objection on principle to owning two cars in the same colour. Hmm, I wonder when the time comes to replace the OH's Punto, whether I can find a Focus or Golf in BRG with twin yellow stripes.

Well thats my point, silver is not my favourite colour so having a second car the same colour would grate.

Well i've never had more than 2 cars at a time, at that time one was blue and one was silver. But on a slightly different note, at one point me, my sister, and my brother all had silver cars. And at another point we all had blue cars.

Only certain colours, purple or black. Dark colours, mainly

My OH and I have this discussion* about this. I am happy to have cars the same colour, she refuses.. So when I win the Euromillions and I purchase that Purple Lambo, she won't want it parked in the garage with the purple Chimaera..............

  • which may or may not be considered an argument

Yes smile I like the idea of two (or more) cars the same colour. But silver? scratchchin

I'd like a mint low mileage e36 328i sport as a daily driver and a TVR Tuscan in dark metallic blue.

I wouldn't mind it.
Not sure I'd have two silver cars though.

Depends on the cars. In an idea world I would have pretty much anything but red or silver
