Have you an old Exide Supreme battery tucked away?
Discussion
Mods - this is such an obsure request that there is no way I'd get any reply from a Wanted ad - please could you let this run for a few days here to see if there is any response as it would really help with my car. Thanks
I am doing a fairly extreme original rebuild on my car and to compliment it I'd like to finish it off with an original car battery. I realise that I won't find a working one these days but if someone still has the shell of one of these batteries I am hoping I can split it and get it recored/refurbished. Please can you let me know if you have one. (and to save anyone searching the classic car battery manufacturers I haven't been able to find one that is close).
So if people would go and take a look at the scrap batteries they have in their sheds it would be really apreciated. Thanks.

Not just any old black battery - its an M&S battery...........
but seriously yes it would be easy to mimic with a couple of stickers but the period feel of the battery is in the pull off white plastic cell covers/sealers which pulls off to allow you to check the levels within.
Thanks for the suggestion tho'

The elcheapo LION battery I got for my Mondeo out of ECP last month still has lids on each cell. It's black.
Make sure you keep a booster pack to hand if the weather turns cold like it did last year, the performance drops off quite considerably if it temperature falls below zero, particularly if it's an el-dirto itemwow I thought I was sad....
you want the exact original battery, that you will take apart and rebuild...
99% of new batteries have covers that can be removed so stickers on a new battery is the best way to go.
Can I just ask though, why does it matter? honestly, who is going to care if you have replaced something that is completely shagged with a modern, almost identical item?

At the end of the day if I have to go modern i will - I have a few months before the car will be ready so if i can find one of these ( a very long shot I know) I have plenty of time to have it sorted and if it only cost a little more than a new one then it will have been worth it in my eyes - but i see your point of view.
