G'day all,

I've been searching high and low for a video showing one of the rally greats rolling his car several times onto a nearby field, landing on the wheels only to continue on almost instantly.

Any of you Beings of Greater Car Knowledge have any idea where to find the thing?

Ta in advance

Seem to remember Colin McCrae doing that...

McRae did it on an event in the Focus, he rolled the car on at least 2 or 3 seperate occasions and continued each time.
Grist (his then co-driver) speaks about it on one of the WRC Greatest Crashes programmes, sadly I can't remember the event although something tells me it was a WRC GB

I'm editing this to note that Google seems to make mention of it actually being a Legacy that McRae did this in....

Great clip! But no, that wasn't the one. The one I'm looking for is from one of the big rallies. Taking place during summer with lots of dust. As far as I remember, it looks to be somewhere in the southern parts of Europe or in Africa.

Now that we're at rally videos, anyone remembers the Colin McRae clip where he crashes in the woods. We're in the car, I believe, and the co-driver just goes "oh Colin" followed by McRae driving on?

"&#%¤#%& switching computers. Used to have links for loads of this good stuff on my old machine cry

it could be the one with Carloz Saintz in his Celica rolled it into a left hander at the end of a straight lots of dust, lots of damge, lots of people running for cover, but did he continue? I think he did.

Maybe Eric Carlsson? He was notorious for rolling cars - not for nothing was he known as "on-the-roof Carlsson" - but I can't find any videos. I've found a reference to him deliberately rolling a car on the Safari rally, which could be the one you're thinking of, crancko.

Thanks for all the suggestions and help today, guys. Still haven't found what I'm looking for (I know, you may hum it to yourselves). Going to consult my car crazed brother and see if he can remember where and what it is...

I think the most famous McRae roll (collection) is iirc a rally GB event in the WRC. He was leading the competition, on target to win, rolled his Focus in the morning and the gap between him and the 2nd place driver got a bit closer, then he rolled it in the afternoon, by which time his Focus was so squashed it started to look like a Fiesta. Then he started driving the wrong way down the track, until Grist figured it out and turned him round, though he lost his lead and lost the title.

McRae did it in WRC Cyprus 2002. Rolled mid-stage and continued. Got back to service where they tried to make his Focus drive like a half decent car. Went back out and rolled in the next batch of stages and once again continued to the end.

Carlos Sainz rolled his Celica in Australia, a complete roll off in to scrub captured by an overhead helicopter and didn't even pause before he set off again, only to roll it several times a few k's later near the end of the stage... which pretty much ended his day.

Can't find a clip however

Found the Sainz one! At 1.10 in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pi05Z_B-G3Q

Now if I could just find the McRae one, where the co-driver just goes "Oh Colin" after McRae sent the car into the woods...

I just KNEW Pistonheads was the place to get info biggrin

I like the Marc Lovell clip when he rolls the Ford RS200. It's barely back on 4 wheels before you can hear him cranking the engine to get it re-started.
Yeah, that's a beauty smile (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EfJy-nPyRCU)
