I've just had a ticket through for speeding. It was on the 8th of october. I thought there were rules that state they have to make contact within 2 weeks or it can be voided. Does anyone know if that is correct or just hearsay.

And yes, It was me driving. I am in the wrong. I am happy to take my medicine and pay the fine. But if there are rules then those rules must be followed.

If the car is registered to you, it's correct.

From what I understand, if it was sent out within 14 days then it stands - they don't take postal delays etc. into account.

What date is the notice/letter dated?

Has is just taken convieniently (for them) long to come through the post to you, and they will argue that the letter was printed and mailed within 14 days of the offence?

What is the postmarked date on the envelope?

I do not have the envolope its in the office in work. i have to go and sign some paperwork tomorrow then the details will be posted to me. Hope that makes it clearer. either way its 6 weeks since the incident.

Chances are it was served on the registered keeper (your employer or lease company) within 14 days which will make it valid. You should double check though, however I doubt the envelope has been kept.

+1

It has to be served on registered keeper within 14 days. Company car it is pretty much definite you will have to accept the points and fine as the admin office will simply give your details and send back without bothering to look at the rules regarding fines.

They will claim they sent you a NIP within 14 days, I got a court summons 9 months after an offence and it still stood!

Went to the ticket office to try to sort it out, they said I had ignored them and would have to goto court.

Expect zero sympathy from the fking bd magistrates!
