No they don't.

Be careful choosing the car seat - there's not much space in the back of an XJ!

agreed, we bought a childseat and the belts were too short to fit around it, also, the rear seat is very flat meaning some child/babyseats done seem to fit securely.

Thanks for the replies. This might be key in me actually buying the car.

Craig, do you think the baby seat would fit better in the front passenger seat rather than in the back?

Agreed, it will depend on the seats, and how many.

When it was fitted it fitted well,(IYSWIM) but there is less room than you would think.

Kids enjoy the elevated view out though.

Yes it probably would but all the same, check belt lengths. It was a 1997 I had (and loved it) but the seatbelt length was ridiculous.

Obviously check you can turn off airbag if there is one.

We got over the problem with a rubber yogamat in the back to get the angle. The man in halfords seemed happy enough with the way it was.

JM, were yours fitted in the rear of the Cherokee? We only need one seat, as it's going to be our first. But haven't got a clue about what to look at the mo. Slowly learning.

Thanks again. All useful to know.

If belt-length is the only issue, then this lot can fit a longer belt for you
http://www.quickfitsbs.com/

We found it easier to have a rear-facing seat in the front, as it's then easier to calm/sort littl'un without taking your eyes off the road, or pulling over. But you need to check passenger airbag (if there is one) is switched off.

Different Cherokee though from looking at your profile. I'm thinking about a 97 one. Think yours is the newer shape.
