Well considering there's a VXR8 and a Boxster on the list, I'd say he wasn't bothered.

I had this exact dilemma/budget and got a Z4M.

Very glad i did, and I wouldn't swap it for anything on that list.

I was going to suggest an M3 CSL but they're all 03-05 aren't they?

I'd take the RS4, it's the last of the good looking understated Audis, they're all a bit showy for my liking now in the A5/A4 range. Get an Avant in Black or Blue and enjoy taking people in a car they think is a 2.0TDI.

Though seriously I like the look of the S5. And they sound lovely pulling out of the Audi dealer down the road. No idea how they drive or the interior though.

335i convertible for me, in white with red leather and without a clutch pedal. Exactly what i fancy at the minute please smile

Looks like your budget is the same as mine was before I decieded to buy a house. I looked at most of these and decieded that the VXR8 delievered the best bang for buck. The RS4, which is pretty quick, left me a bit cold and just wasn't that much fun to drive.
