We live semi rural , and seriously looking at a new A4 allroad as an alternative to going up to a
RR-Torag-Volvo-chelsea tractor type vehicle .
Local dealer is sorting a test drive for me ,
Looking at the Derv manual
Has anybody lived with , or experience of these vehicles ?
Are they a horror story ?
All views about the car , my spelling or punctuation welcome , Thanks

A4 Allroad? What's one of those then?
One of these:http://www.audi.co.uk/new-cars/a4/a4-allroad-quatt...
I looked at buying a few months back, decided against that particular one for the following reasons
Interior switchgear quality was not as good as I expected in an Audi
Mileage was on the high side of lots
Rumours of the self levelling suspension costing $1000 per corner
It was about 7cm too short
suspicions that it had been clocked, despite the high shown mileage
those double-alloy-effect wheels looked awful!
horrid beige colour...
it was still expensive.
most of that is specific to one car, but do check out the suspension, if it is self levelling, check condition and cost.

Thanks.
I actually quite like it!
OP: If you have children or carry passengers in the rear, you will find that, as with all A4/A5 cars, there's bugger all leg room in the back.
For the money, I'd go for a 2nd hand already depreciated A6 Allroad. LOADS of room in the back, and you'd probably be able to get the 2.7TDi or 3.0TDi instead. That's a lovely V6 diseasal.

Wrong car I think. The A4 Allroad does not have self-leveling suspension. Good car actually. Like an A4 Avant q but with better ground clearance. Go for the 2.0TDIInterior switchgear quality was not as good as I expected in an Audi

Would anyone be offended if the words Subaru Legacy Outback were mentioned?
No its an excellent car.To the OP I had an A6 allroad and it was great (same concept to the A4 allroad) great ride on the air suspension came with all season tyres so was was pretty good in the snow and on muddy tracks. Had it for 2 years and did over 30k miles and it never missed a beat.
I'm not sure but I don't think the A4 allroad comes standard with the adjustable air suspension I could be wrong though.
and the 2.7TDI is the smoothest diesel you'll ever drive. (if thats not a contradiction in terms)

I've just bought a Subaru Forester and it's a brilliant car. Doesn't have the image of an Audi but I've done over 2k miles in it this week and it's comfy on long drives, has room for people in the back and won't get stuck on a muddy lane. Other than the fact it struggles to manage 30 mpg (2.0 auto petrol) it's great.
