Somebody drove into the side of my sisters Micra.

It oddly looks worse in the photos and I think in reality just popping the rear quarter back out would bring it back into line.

My question is whether its likely to be a write off? and is that pillar structural?. The car is only worth around £1500-2000 but it has been cherished, with oil changes every 6k and no known issues before point of impact.

I would say so i'm afraid.

Rear quarter panels aren't cheap to replace on any car.

Thanks for the quick reply.

Will the damage to the pillar cause any structual issue?

I'm no expert but I don't think it will cause any structural issues (looks to be surface damage from the picture).

Likely that they will class it as a CAT D write off (uneconomical write off). You might be able to buy it back cheap and get it knocked out and sprayed for a lot less than the insurance co will have to pay

Exactly my thoughts biggrin, just wouldn't want to get it fixed to find we were covering structual issues.

The car is being taken away tomorrow for assessment and will be sure to quiz them.

Definitely a write off I am sorry to say. A new rear quarter panel would be required and they wont be going for that. Shame as you say as its been well looked after.
