^^ and look what's happened. The Elise now comes with carpets, electric windows, air con, air bags and traction control LOL.

I think he might be onto something smile

Hi,

It's a TV show about motor journalism with a little bit of fun now and again, where as Top Gear is just fun.

Not acceptable IMO, not for a kit car, no way.

Trouble is, it's a production car!

Whats wrong with velcro?? It's a great, simple, rattle free way of holding trim together, Buy a £160k Aston and you still get Velcro "behind the scenes"............

yeah the trim was a bit wobbly in places, but actually no one spends much time in that sort of car deliberately shaking trim bits (no space for the kids who are the worst "trim testers" !!!) Really the only thing that worried me was the steering wheels lack of stiffness !

Exactly, I was being obtuse.

It's roots are kit car / production.

There is the problem.

how cheaply can a person build a kit-car caterham? I know haynes do a book on making one, with an old ford sierra as a base. He's not lying when he says he could build one better at home

You can only build a kit car 'Caterham' if you buy the 'kit' from Caterham themselves. Caterham is not a generic term for what is commonly termed a seven-esque kit car! Although some people might lead you to believe that it's the only real 7 type car....it ain't! There are many '7's', Caterham being just one of them! (They also own the rights to call their car 7's, but that is besides the point!)

That would be the other car which Plato has slated as vociferously.
