I am sick to fking death of jealous, thick, ignorant people. Yesterday I had a policeman come round... they have had a complaint, my car is too loud. Copper was a nice bloke, explained to him with it being a bike engine it tends to be noisy and probably confusing to people as they turn round expecting to see a bike, plus theres a fair bit of induction noise and you can hear the diff etc. I took it all on the chin, said I'd try and shut it up a bit as I need to anyway to go on track. It passed the SVA though, which includes a noise test. Anyway all good, he was basically just trying to help me out from what it seemed.

Then he reads the statement to me...

Red car, numbers on the side (no numbers actually, just white disks), very loud blah blah blah... then this bit that gets me wound up...'sometimes wears a helmet, probably thinks he's a rally driver out to do a time trial'.

So then it gets me thinking, is it the noise, or is it just because you're a jealous/thick/ignorant tt?? Maybe even all three.

I wear a fking helmet sometimes because I have no windscreen, therefore it gets pretty cold. But primarily because I don't want to get Felipe Massa'd in the face by a stone or some other projectile! So in fact, wearing the helmet is actually a sign of me being sensible. Hey, I may look a bit of a knob, but it's for safety, not because I think I am the fking Stig.

So that pissed me off. Then today, went out for a little drive just because it's going to get to the point where the car is un useable in the snow. Sat in the outside lane, about 78/80 mph (fast enough I thought, especially in this weather). A Punto just appears in my mirror, right up my arse flashing his lights... Already he's out of order, I mean fair doos, you may be going somewhere but theres no need to get right up my arse and go mad before even giving me a chance to move! So anyway, I move to the middle lane and let him past, then I'm awarded with the tosser signal as he passes. For no fking reason.

There's been a few others but these two are the most recent and both within one weekend. It seems that the comments I get about my Fury go from one extreme to the other. Kids love it, some older people love it and ask loads of questions, generally all good. I was filling up the other day and a fully orthadox jewish man in robes came over and was asking me loads of questions. Now that maybe a bad presumption of mine that he wouldn't be interested, but he loved it, I was made up. However I get so many bad looks, ignorant comments for litterally no reason, it's getting to the point where it's ruining owning the car for me. I've only had it a few months and I love it, I just wish people would leave me alone. I like how it pleases some people, and it's always nice to have your taste complimented. Though, I'd trade all the nice comments for everyone just to leave me alone. It's sad, but there you go. I bought it because I enjoy driving and it's a lot of fun, we're not all the same. I don't understand why people can't just accept and respect that. I've had this now and the GTM Libra I had before, with some similar experiences. It's getting to the point where I feel like I can't own anything nice and just be left to enjoy it.

Anyway, I've vented! Any of you have similar experiences?

Tossers. They just seem to be everywhere.

I know this is completely non PH but i experienced some random knuckle dragger abuse the other night. I was out running at about 1900 ish just round quite residential roads, nice bit of town, nobody about...except two mouth breathers wearing hoodies, guess they were 16-17...anyway i was running past minding my own business and i was rewarded with a couple of mouthfuls of abuse "that as fast as you go can go" "w@nker" etc... Why, just why?

Unimaginative morons who otherwise have nothing interesting to add want to get noticed, this and "calling 300bhp/ton"...loser Just ignore it.

As for your OP - it's really really sad that we have to live in a society like that. I don't really have any better advice than just let them have their petty little moments, I see where you're coming from and how frustrating it must be sometimes. However at the end of the day you know that they would swap their Puntos for your car in an instant.

I used to seriously consider relocating to Australia after spending some time in Queensland. You just don't get that there...

I've just started running in the last two weeks and encountered a bit of this too!

What's the need?!

Been to Queensland & Perth, you're right so laid back and well mannered. I guess the majority of them don't have pathetic chips on their shoulders.

We live in a country where people hate anyone else who doesn't conform. You don't conform (you have a nice fast car), so you are a target of hate.

Get over it and don't let it get you down.

Sounds familiar.

Sadly Britain is a nation of sheep. Anyone who stands out, has a mind of their own or dares to enjoy life is villified.

Don't worry about it. They're sad people who get upset because they realise what a waste their lives are and want the same for everyone else.

Looking at your profile you're quite young. You need to just let people's comments wash over you. You've got that car because YOU like it, and no other fker's opinion on it is relevant to you. Listen to the nice comments, ignore the tts.

I've had bikes for years and you get similar comments about that really, especially when you've got a 1200cc twin with an open pipe... Everybody has neighbors who are sad tts who have nothing better to do but stand at their windows waiting for someone to do something that intrudes on their little world, no matter how slight. Its just life. If you go off on one every time someone makes an ignorant comment, you'll have an ulcer by the time you're 40.

Just chill out, relax and enjoy the car. And buy an old french stbox for £300 in case it snows where you live... ;-)

Was there any good reason why you weren't driving in lane 1 when you weren't overtaking. The first of your points was a valid piss boiler, the second wasn't. There wasnt nearly enough profanity, for it to be a proper rant either.

I had overtaken and not yet moved back over. Either way does that excuse being tailgated, flashed and called a tosser?

There are morons all over the place, it's a fact of life I'm afraid. Don't let one (or three) little (medium) sized annoyances get you down.

I used to run a lot and did get some random abuse. Two incidents in particular stick out. Someone shot me with a BB gun from a passing car. I assume it was a BB gun as my hand suddenly started hurting a LOT and I heard the noise. If that hit me in the face or bks then it would have been serious but I suppose it was entertaining for them.

Another time I was running along and someone threw a plastic bottle from a moving car that hit me in the face. The car then slowed down and I could hear them cheering.

I started to carry a big bolt with me as it would go straight through a car window but thankfully I've moved and not had any abuse and so no longer carry it.
