I arrived back from Mercedes world yesterday to find a copy of 'love the beast' on my doorstep. What a perfect petrolhead day i had. A ride round the track with the mercedes display team in a E63 amg, and a good look around the museum. Then when i got home to an empty house i put the film on and was engrossed from the outset. I thought the way Bana filmed his docu film was excellent. I enjoyed everything about the film and i thought the interviews with Clarkson and Leno were excellent. What a down to earth man he is, no hollywood star bks, just a true car enthusiast. Anyone seen the film if so what do you think?

Eric's a good bloke, used to be a stand up comic before he became a big time movie star (see the aussie film chopper) almost everybody in the melbourne comedy scene gushes about how much of a wonderful bloke he is. And he is a big time serious petrol head, started running 944s and went on to Carrera cup.

I loved love the beast, not just a film about cars but about blokes and mateship, bloody awesome film.

Yeah, great film. One day I might make my GF watch it so she understands what it's all about! I've gone through all the emotions he goes through in the film, I knew exactly how he was feeling at every stage!

The only thing that I thought was a bit of a shame was how he had a garage re-build the car the last time. This was a car that he and his mates had built together, he'd had loads of experiences in and everything....but by the sounds of things that car was stripped utterly to make the race car, there would have been very little left of the original car he had. I wondered why he didn't just get another car and use that instead?

I really liked the bit about his dad's car too, very funny and touching.

There is no point in suggesting to my wife that she watches it. She has no idea what its all about, its a film for me to watch on my own or with a like minded mate. I hope he did rebuild it to its former glory. I thought the film showed how he treated his acting career as a way to fund his motorsport hobby and nothing else!

Watched the film earlier on in the year, best couple of hours I've spent in a long time. Eric Bana is as far as I can see totally devoid of ego and is a genuine bloke.

Being Aussie I remember Eric Bana in his standup days. Back in Oz a petrolhead friend of mine got together like about 6 of us guys and we went to see "The Beast" at the cinema when it came out last year - I was smiling thru the whole film, just loved it, I always wanted a Ford Falcon 2 Door.

Its was on ITV late one night about 6 weeks ago, I recorded it and have since watched it 3 times again !

Film also reminded me of when I was like 18, this mate had a FOrd Capri we all used to work on, converting it into a V8.

There was an earlier thread on this, but it is indeed an really good film, and Clarkson seemed more relaxed and less scripted than I have ever seen him.
