So I sold my m3 3 weeks ago, car was spoton when it left. No missing, not using any oil or water, no leaks, no funny noises etc. I had recently completed 500 mikes in the car with no issues.

The car is a e36 m3 and anyone that has one or had one knows they need to be properly warmed up and check.
Well iget a text last night saying the engine has gine and what am I going to do aabout it.....?

Surely he cant be serious?
Its been -18 where he is

Your opinion please

Plently of previous threads on this......often quite amusing.

Buyer Beware, basically his problem not yours.

See many many many threads on this. He has no come back on you. Politely tell him that the car was in good working order when he tested it and bought it and then do not respond to his communications.

There's a good thread somewhere about a hamburger van that a bloke sold and the guy wanted money for burgers he couldn't cook or something and then compensation for an injury he sustained whilst working on it. Some people are poorly informed on the ways of the world and just need telling straight.

Sold is sold and once those keys have changed hands its his car. Besides, he could have done anything to it in 3 weeks. I would imagine a new owner of an M3 giving it some stick and doing quite a few miles to show it off, who knows how he has treated it!

Its inevitable that cars break down and it is rarely at a convenient time for anyone.

My opinion is I'm amazed eek that there are so many on PH that don't know what a private sale is.

It's sold - gone. Done! Tell them to FO....... rolleyes

If you're a trader it might be different, but then you'd likely know that.

Why does this keep happening? tell him to do one. You have absolutely no idea how he treated it once he drove off, he has NO comeback whatsoever

The thing that got me, he never really checked the car over. Within 10 minutes of being there he said yes to it. He didn't even want a test drive in it. I had to force him too. Then I tried putting him off as I did not want to sell it to him but he would not have it. He paid the full asking price and was happy with the car when it left. He drove it 180 miles home with no fault, plus 3 weeks of bring cab happy and no four giving it some, plus no doubt ragging it in the snow

Please, what does this mean? "3 weeks of bring cab happy and no four giving it some"

Just ignore him, do not say a word, nothing. If he hasn't given up after a few days get in touch with the Bill

Unless there is anything you misrepresented then there is no comeback upon you. Let the Buyer Beware is the term assigned to private sales, or Caveat Emptor if you want the latin.

Sorry I am on my phone and it makes words up.
He has had it three weeks being cab happy.

I will reply saying its not happening and let you know what I get back. This is why these cars will be rare one day when people like this buy them

As before, Arkell v Pressdram is the usual legal case to quote in such matters.

i would point out that its not your problem, THEN ignore them. that they cannot be under any impression 'you haven't got the message' and should leave you alone. if they persist, it's harasment.

I may have cocked up some spelling, for which I apologise, so early, so tired, too little coffee

That almost implies a threat, DO NOT RESPOND IN KIND, keep the texts in case it needs the Bills intervention
