So folks as per the title really, I have a good friend who is stuck in Italy and his car is at Gatwick, he can get a flight back to Heathrow and I have volunteered to drive to Heathrow to pick him up. The question is do we try and plough (ok bad pun!) on to Gatwick and get his car or just say sod it come home and leave his car there and go back when it is more clement?

I would welcome some views from anyone in that neck of the woods (Heathrow - Gatwick) on if that is reasonable currently based on the roads etc.

Thanks,

Hep

My dad lives in East Grinstead (8 miles as the crow flies from Gatwick) and he said they've had masses of snow.
He hasn't moved any of the cars for a couple of days and is working from home as he can't get to Gatwick to work.
I'd abandon it if I were you!

wouldn't bother.
I live in copthorne, near gatwick where there are two large parking firms...
They're not operating. plain and simple.

The roads around here are pretty ste, I've made it around in my van over the last few days but I wouldn't bother at night. Just not worth the risk.

Well we ended up doing it in the end, we said lets drive round that way and if it looks to bad we will just press on home. Anyway truth be told the M25 and M23 were fine, when we got onto the Gatwick spur roads it was a bit dicey though! Also getting his car out of the car park was fun, but all told was not too bad really.
