Ok so I knew I should have done this last month, but budgetary restrictions and some good gig tickets took precedence......

I now can't find winter tyres to fit the missus' tank / my runabout (volvo v40). 205 /55 x 15. Presumably all sold out. It's not desperate, as I can get the car to work and back fairly easily and there's no hills. But we really want to go skiing up to Glencoe or Aviemore over the Christmas fortnight and therefore really want some winter tyres on it.

Can I either lower the profile and go up a tyre width or vice versa, heighten the profile and go down a width to look at alternatives? i.e. will 215 / 50 x 15s or 195 / 60 x 15s fit?

Ta - expecting the usual contradictory ph advice!

Yes. I wouldn't go for a lower profile if possible though.

Find out what wheels you have, and look here
