Private number plate association written off query

Hi folks,

wondering if anyone can help with a query that I have:

• Am looking to buy a car (call this "Car A").
• This car used to have a private plate on it, however plate has now been removed.
• Private plate was previously fitted to a car (Car B)that was written off.
• The car that I'm thinking of buying was registered after Car B was written off.
• I know for a fact that car A has nothing wrong with it.

However:

• Hpi report for Car A (the car that I'm wanting to buy) shows that a private plate was assigned to the car and that the plate was fitted to a car that has been written off.

So the dilemma is, although the car I want to buy is fine - the hpi report shows that there is an affiliation with a car being written off - even though it's actually the private plate that's the association with another car being written off.

Has anyone else ever had this problem / issue. Would this put anyone off buying the car (even though the car is actually fine). I know the fact that the car I want to buy was registered after Car B was written off, so to some extent that answers the query - however the fact that the hpi report still refers to this is a concern. Not least the fact that I'll have to try and explain this nonsence if /when I sell the car on.

I'd be grateful for any help / thoughts / assistance.
