Getting something off my chest/rant alert
Just to set the scene I live in a flat above some shops, i park at the back in a courtyard area. Now this area is shared and is also used as a service entrance for deliveries. This is what it looks like http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&source=s_q&a...
I had to drive in through the public car park at the back as the Broadway at the front was closed as they switch on our lights tonight
. I followed a delivery lorry in and as they drove in a car came from the Broadway towards him so he waited and the car turned right so the lorry could pass, the lorry goes forward and stops. The car then had to shuffle round to get out passed me (cars park along the wall).
So I'm waiting to let the car out and a guy arrives in car behind me and as I look at him in the mirror I can see his hand going for his horn (total waiting time 10-15 Seconds)! Beep Beep so I hold my hand up in a I can't go anywhere just wait kind of way, beep beep again and which point I get out of my car to ask him what he'd like me to do seeing as he can't drive through and if he's parking because he works at one of the shops he'll have to wait because of the car turning round, he asks me what my problem is and why can't I just move out of his way? I can see he's old (probably 60+) and I'm 35 and 6'4" so I think better of getting any angrier and get back in my car and wait for the car to exit so we can get in to park.
My door shuts as I get into my car and beep beep again, that was enough for me so I wait for the car to exit and park up. I got out again and asked him if he would prefer to get out and discuss it face to face, he declines and asks me again why I didn't just get out of his way. I was seething by then, so I explain that I live there and I was just waiting to get in to park, i also suggest that if he was doing the same me moving would simply have meant none of us could have gone anywhere. At that point I make myself walk away to the flat, but had the guy been a few years younger I think it would have ended badly for one or both of us, cos I would have punched him regardless of the consequences I'm sure of it.
Strange thing is I'm normally very mellow and placid, but something about this just pushed my buttons. Just to make it worse my wife was in the car with me and got upset because she said "I've never seen you so angry ever (12 years together), I was really worried you where gonna lose it completely" so now i feel like a complete arse for losing it, but I can't explain why I didn't just let the guy lean on his horn and get on with it.
Feel better now I've told someone so thanks for listening, I guess I'm now in for a roasting from everyone for actually losing it enough to get out of the car. But that's life.

Getting back on the horn after you'd spoke to him meant he was a t
t. I had someone deliberately winding me up a while ago, waving, laughing, beeping etc and I nearly did something to him, but thankfully I saw sense at the last minute and left it. At least you didn't whack him one. He's probably impotent.

- cowers away from big angry man*
Made me chuckle though as it's what I'd expect from PH forums
maybe we should re name it to the spelling and grammar correction forums LOLEdited by markswebpages on Monday 10th January 16:54
No roasting from me matey.
I once " came to" to find myself trying to punch my way through a Mondeo side window to get to the ignorant s
t who had not only nearly killed me with his incompetant driving but had then had the nerve to give me the finger when I had the temerity to give him a
look as i drove round him. I have absolutely no recollection of the 50 yard drive down the road, the emergency stop, running back up the road and setting about his car with my fists, all the while shouting "get out of this car you ignorant little s
t!" The two guys in the burger van who pulled me off the Mondeo said they had seen everything, that it was entirely Mondeo mans fault (still sat hiding under his hands in the locked car) It's the only time I have ever experienced total road rage in 30 years of driving...... I think it was the fact that, having nearly killed me, the guy didn't even mouth "sorry" as I went past, instead he added insult to my almost fatal potential injury

Worst "I was an angry cock" post ever.
Take a Chill Pill Man
Yes it's irritating, but just let them beep, when their horn starts to sound like a asthmatic duck you get the last laugh!

I just wish I knew why it pushed my buttons like it did. I haven't done a massive amount of driving but I'll take any opportunity to drive because I enjoy it, even driving in city traffic hasn't got me rattled before.
But yes in hindsight I was an "angry cock"
Off to grab a beer in the pub, then off outside to listen to people singing Christmas carols whilst I eat roast chestnuts. That should do the trick
Chap I worked with in Hungary told me a fumy story.
He was waiting at lights. 2 cars ahead of him. Lights changed and the chap at the front didn't move. My friend bibs his horn. Man in first car gets out, walks to second car pulls open the door and punches the innocent driver in the face. Walks back to his car and drives off....

Can someone paraphrase this? I got bored after the 2nd paragraph.
Sorry as I've already said spelling and grammar are not my strong point, but thanks for drawing it to my attention
Funny I was sure this was a motoring forum.........

OP,
Would you have "offered him out" if he was younger and bigger than you?
See, I'm the same size as you, albeit younger.....I'd feel like a bully the first time I approached an old man in a threatening manner, let alone the second time.
Never forget there's always someone bigger/harder/crazier than one can ever be.....

So you are happy to ignore anyone who is older or smaller than you trying to wind you up, but if the cock is younger or bigger it's fair game? Would you have "offered him out" if he was younger and bigger than you?
