Winter (and a leak) has fko'd mine. Where's the best place to get a new one? Criteria for 'best' is cheap, but not rubbish.

Cheers

I've bought 4 or 5 recently from Euro Car Parts. They have a choice of makes with a choice of warranty.

I bought, an admittedly quite small one, for our Saxo. 3 yr warranty Bosch £39.

But only with a trade card, makes them almost half price.

This. I wonder if anyone has ever bought a battery with a trade card and then asked them to fit it?

Ok, cheers chaps. Have given Tayna a whirl as they were pretty good price-wise and will deliver. Which is important as I can't collect!

Scrapyard - seriously, they are usually over-run with very good condition batteries and you could easily buy a fully-tested one for £5-10.

I spend £50 on one at Kwik-Fit before scrapping my Fiesta Diesel just 6 months later - never again.

Groves Batteries in Cheltenham.
Top bloke. Lent me a battery and took my old one to give it a good charge to see if it would come back.
Good prices and german batteries.

I had good service here last winter when mine lost interest and I couldn't get anywhere to buy another.

New one sitting on the doorstep the next morning.

www.tayna.co.uk - the best by a long stretch IMO.

Costco are decent too, but inconsistent.

Gets my vote too.

If you ever have an issue, they will change it for a new one, no problem.

Ummm I noticed mine had done a few slow cranks recently.

How long do the say a battery should last these days? Mine is about 4.5 years old now.

Anything from a couple of years to a couple of decades. Depends on so many things it's impossible to say really. Perfectly feasible that a 4-5 year old one will be kaput though.

It might be worth you trying this

I posted it a couple of years ago and to my mind it's still on the money

It sounds like Costco has it if you don't have a trade card

But what if you don't have a Costco card? Can you get in Aladdin's Cave without one...Serious question, Chrimble's coming!)

Is that only on the Halfords ones? Or does it make the Bosch ones almost half price too?
