As per the title. I bought a Lexus RX300 more because it was a comfy estate on stilts - it caught the missus eye, it was local, well priced etc so a deal was done.

Within a month the heavens opening and the snow fell in Kent - what a cool car! Bear in mind that my benchmark car in winter conditions is the BMW 530i suto on summer tyres, so any sign of the white stuff and it just gets stuck.

The RX came on unfasionably tall M&S tyres and I have to say I have been very impressed. Icy, ungritted roads just don't seem a problem - push the 'snow' button and away we go. Give it some throttle mid corner and it even does 4 wheel oversteer drifts. Overall, I love it!

Anyone else in their first 4X4 for the snow?

Yes, me too! Bought a Cayenne at the start of winter and it's been very good so far. I actually feel as though, on ice last year, my S3 with Haldex felt more precise but maybe I have false memory syndrome.

I did some fun 4 wheel drifts in a random car park last week in the Cayenne, much fun had by all.
