New De Tomaso 'SLC' Spied

Fuzzy teaser shots hint at forthcoming De Tomaso revival

The moribund De Tomaso marque is set for a comeback, if these pics from Italian car magQuattroruote are anything to go by.

But admirers of the Pantera may be disappointed, for these images, as scanned by Italian blog site Jokeforblog seem to show glimpses of something that is most definitely not a sleek coupe.

In fact, it looks like the first fruit of the De Tomaso revival, enigmatically referred to as the 'SLC', will be either a saloon or a luxury SUV. Either way, we'll find out at the Geneva show next March, when new owner Gianmario Rossignolo hopes to show the first 'new' De Tomaso

The classic Pantera
The classic Pantera
As we revealed in November 2009, Rossignolo - a former boss of Lancia and Zanussi - has been quietly buying up manufacturing plant (as well as the De Tomaso name) for a three-tier De Tomaso model range including a saloon, an SUV and a sports car.

It all seems very nice, Gianmario, but what we really want is one of these (see right)...

45% BMW 5.
45% Mondeo
10% Maser Quatroporte

At least that what it looks like from the shots released.

Why do car companies do this 'teaser' thing. It's wky in the extreme.

Front end looks like the lovechild of a Lexus and Audi 4WD.

Might be an interesting one to watch.

The Pantera is one of my favorite cars of all time, it would be in my dream garage before almost anything else.

This new thing isnt worth a second look IMO.

That could be exactly what they have done. Didn't Fisker (before the electric/hybrid Karma) sell rebodied BMWs?

It's more imaginative than the last saloon they did which was 95% XJ6 and 5% Quattroporte.

Don't like it at all. The Pantera was one of my favourite cars when I was young, that looks like any old euro box. very disapointing.
