All-New Mercedes SLK Caught On Video

Leaked promo vid reveals new SLK

These - as far as we're aware - are the first undisguised images of the all-new Mercedes SLK, which is due next year.

The German car has made its way to our homepage (just in time for 'Open Season') via a French promotional video leaked onto a Korean website called (bobaedream.co.kr). Oh, how international the internet world is...

As for the car itself, as expected the whole package is now more SL-in-miniature rather than SLK-in-miniature.

The video (from which we have also taken a selection of screengrabs) also shows off some of the key features of the new SLK (it would be a pretty rubbish promo video if it didn't), including the 'Airscarf' neck-warming system, the seven-speed gearbox and all-new 'Magic Sky' roof, which dims at the flick of a switch.

Looking good. But I suspect like alot of modern Mercs - it'll look best in silver. Any of the newer models I find look odd other colours (black aside)

You know how it goes though, you leave your top secret video on a memory stick just laying around on the window sill next to the cooling pie and BAM! Leaked on the internet.

Looks alot better than the previous generations of SLK. Has a much meaner stance to it now.

It certainly does look like a baby SLS. Maybe even an SLS/SL Baby smile

Good work...

I always thought the original looked rather good, alwaus had a sense of mini muscle car about its look. Although it looked best in yellow.

This new one looks good too, although not so sure about the rear view with the roof down.

Nice but the voice features seem kind of annoying.

Looks very nice if they have one with about 350-380 bhp with a manual box and LSD I reckon it would be a great drive

I am very impressed by the look. The original SLK wasn't pretty, the last generation was pretty but it looked somehow feminine... this one looks pretty and masculine at the same time without the slightly fat look of the SL. I am a big fan, nicest merc I have seen in a long time.

Lovely looking thing, but the new satnav voice is a bit to sinister for me.

I guess it will grow on me, like the new Z4, which I hated in the beginning, but I really like now.

The thing is that the "face" and the rear lights are somewhat too big for it's size, if you know what I mean. with big wheels, it makes it look like a toy car.

Hopefully better in the flesh

Well i must be on my own in thinking it looks absolutely crap, its just got a C class face and the front and rear have just been welded onto the middle.

It looks just odd like a lot of Mercs at the moment, at least the last car was 'attractive'

Sorry but its not really a step forward.

Why would you drop SLR styling cues for C Class ones????

Oddball RS, I agree with you.

Medallion-man nose with fussy, edgy styling and a frumpy, fat bottomed rear. Did Team A design the front and Team B design the rear? An interior filled with lots of expensive and largely irrelevant toys (such as Internet-enabled COMAND) - but the panoramic roof looks good.

The mirrors are too large and vulnerable and they look hideous sprouting out of the doors. The cheap rotating plastic windguard behind the roll-over hoops is also extremely tacky.

M-B have tried too hard. They need to return to an era of understated elegance, rather than in-your-face bling.
