Is The Lamborghini Estoque To Become A Reality?

Lambo CEO admits four-door saloon could get green light

A third model line is firmly on the cards for Lamborghini, it seems, and it will be a saloon rather than an SUV.

The webosphere has been working itself into a minor frenzy at the prospect of a four-door Lamborghini along the lines of the Estoque concept that wowed the crowds at the 2008 Paris motor show.

Speaking to Autocar magazine, Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelmann said: “We have opportunities outside the supercar business, and we showed that with Estoque. It had a more enthusiastic response than we had expected. It was the right time to see if the brand could go outside of supercars. Even now, people are still emailing me about us making the Estoque.”

But while encouraging speculation on the possibility of a Lamborghini saloon, Winkelmann was keen to quash persistent rumours that Sant’Agata would be building an SUV as its third model line:

“We really have a choice when it comes to an additional model: an SUV or a four-seat four-door,” Winkelmann told Autocar. “And for me the SUV is a no-go. It doesn’t exist in our price segment, and it’s not a real luxury car.”

Looks good and nice to see Lambo not selling out to the SUV market like Porsche.

An bonkers SUV would be very lambo, given the LM002

But VAG already has several uber-SUV's in it's lineup, and besides, uber-SUV's are so over done these days.

Lamborghini won't enter the SUV market because there is no ultra-premium SUV segment, where price tags of around £150,000 are found. This is because no manufacturer has yet decided that a sustainable market for SUVs at 150% of current prices exists.

The Range Rover is generally accepted as the bench-mark for the top-end SUV market and, like the equivalent Audi, tops out at £100k when loaded with every conceivable extra. And, whilst it is a perfectly capable vehicle, there is much scope for enhancement.

I'm sure there is a market for £150k SUVs. There was no real market for £150k sports coupés until Aston Martin opened things up a decade ago.

It's only a matter of time before SUV manufacturers probe higher price-points. Probably led by Land Rover's next fully-new generation of Range Rovers, if they have the courage of their convictions.

Then we might see a new LM002. With 6 litre V12 TDi and petrol engines.

That's different. They didn't make that because it was in fashion and a way of selling thousands of cars.

Yeah, I do agree with your point - I was just pointing out that they have done an SUV before. However the LM002 was a proper Lambo, not just a rebadged VW.

If Lambo do an SUV it should be a VW towrag SE- carbon fiber body, roll cage and the new 700bhp v12 mid mounted.

Why dont Lamborghini make a four seater coupe? Im thinking DBS/GT Speed size car, then if and probably when the demand picks up, go one step further and offer a "proper" four seater/four door saloon.

Im sure a Lamborghini 2+2 Coupe would be a fantastic seller, with premiership players alone!! I have a few hours spare this evening, I may just create a Lambo 2+2 in Photoshop smile

The key word which you failed to miss was thousands. It's actually very valuable to such prestige brands to keep numbers limited.

Exactly. To say they are "selling out" just because they are making SUVs is a bit silly. It's called supply and demand, and they seem to have done pretty well from it. If you saw an opportunity in a market, would you go for it? or kick yourself when you realise someone else has beaten you to it and made a lot of money!

Shame, I was looking forwards to the LM00X, but I imagine the Estoque would be more exclusive, which is good for Lamborghini's image.

Not sure if I like those 2 photos.
Wouldn't be too surprised if they made it in a near future though

FANTASTIC NEWS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Finally LAMBO considers to make the Estoque!

I hope they do not come up with something different than the ORIGINAL design theme.
This was really LAMBORGHINI !
And very different then all the bland luxury-barges.

First time ever I would buy a foor-door car then.

YES, brilliant idea to put the ESTOQUE in production, Mr. Winkelmann.
The ESTOQUE is so different it does not really have a competitor.
I am sure it will sell very well assuming the qualitiy is to VW Group's luxury car standards.

Can' t wait to see it becoming true.
