Clooney To Play DeLorean In Biopic?

DeLorean film after big stars, says US mag

A DeLorean. Not George Clooney
A DeLorean. Not George Clooney
Who would you choose to play the eponymous hero in a Biopic about John Z DeLorean?

The idea for a film about the life story of the enigmatic GM exec-turned would-be saviour of Northern Irish manufacturing industry has been kicking around since 1997, apparently, but now US business mag Forbes is saying that a big name could be on board - possibly George Clooney.

DeLorean's life certainly has the makings of a good script - he helped to create iconic muscle cars such as the Pontiac Firebird and GTO, created the gullwing DMC-12 that would be immortalised in the Back to the Future films, and was even charged with trafficking drugs in an attempt to raise funds for his company (though he later successfully defended himself).

It all sounds like just the sort of thing for the chap who played the cheeky Danny Ocean to us, but this really is all so much speculation rising from a conversation between the Forbes journo and Stephen Wynne, the boss of the reborn DeLorean Motor Company, which will make you a brand-spanking DMC-12, should you fancy it.

So, while we're playing the 'what if' game who would you cast in the role of Mr 'Zee' DeLorean?

There may be prizes for the most imaginative answer...*

*N.B. There won't be any prizes.

With the right producer and director this could be a really epic film. A film with a great script and cinematography which most car lovers will enjoy, but without stupid street racing or cgi.
