By that i mean cars that have been shown to the world, as potential production vehicles and the possible direction of the company.

So like the mazda furai for example, but you can only pick one and have to give a reason why

Mine? Lamborghini's estoque, for being able to introduce the family to the delights of high performance motoring

None.

Not really keen on all this wild stuff that'll never make production in 100 years. Just a pointless waste of time, money and resources.

I do like this though, more prototype than concept and a vehicle did arise from the idea behind it. although I kind of wish they'd just have made this.

I see your point 300bhp/ton, but from what i understand, the estoque may well make production, and be the first ever 4 door 4 seat lambo. We will have to wait and see

Totally agree.

Shame they got distracted building estate cars with diesel engines...

I kind of agree with you, but from the industry's point of view, it's cheaper to build one concept showing the potential styling direction for the brand, to test-the-water. If the general reaction to the one-off concept is 'Yuk!", then it's back to the drawing board CAD Screen.

Of mainstream pre-production concepts, this the one that sticks in my mind from 1981.

ok, I agree with all that smile and formerly retract my previous statement.

I was more meaning things like this:

Don't get me wrong, it looks fab!!! But such a waste as nothing like it, not even close will be sold.

Some of my favourites from the recent past.

Although I admit, that was one of its better angles...

As a rule, I'm not usually a fan of lazy rehashes of classic designs but for some reason this was an exception.

Mazda made a few variants of the Mk2 in coupe form but never this one. I think they eventually licensed it to Monocraft at some point, but they can only have made a handful at most.

Not strictly a concept, it simply didn't make it into production

Actually I think this did make it into limited production didn't it?

Made 16 of them for a one-make racing series (some were converted for the road) then the car formed the basis of the DeTomaso Guara.
