A few years ago there were quite a few Q reg cars around here being trades by a garage in Abingdon. I know the Q plate was widespread in the kit car world. Does it still exist?

Q plates are given to Kit cars that are presented for an IVA where all/most of the major componants are from lots of different vehicles and they cannot be given an age related number plate because the ages of the componants vary. If a lot of the major componants (there is an exact number/ratio) are from one donor, then a number plate of the same age of the Donor car will be issued, proof of this is needed and the rest of the original vehicle has to be cut up and scrapped (photo evidence, chassis number, scrap reciept is needed). If the engine and diff are brand new, as well as other componants then it will be given a fresh numberplate of a 60 type (at the moment), again, reciepts and photo evidence is needed.
