Here's the story and it's not a moan, so today finally think about replacing the rear wiper as the little black plastic clip snapped in the recent cold weather.

I go to a well know shop that sells motor parts and other items ready to be disheartened by a teenager looking bored and not quite on the high customer service level that I'm sure the management would like. To my delight greeted by smiling face and any help just ask.

I get to the wiper section and flipping through the chart identifying car and part required. To my dismay I look and can't find the correct wiper blade, it was only then I noticed the sign saying if not in stock will will order and you pay half price, fair enough I thought. So I have a walk over and ask for some assistance and the help chap says; 'Yup looks like don't have that one in stock.' (in the premium brand version) but has their own brand type, I whilst I'm about to pay I make small talk and advise him only actually need the plastic clip.

To my shock horror he offers the chance to rummage in their box of bits to see if a spare one in there. I take his advises as he points to the one I need. I thank him and walk out try to fix it on but no joy it's the wrong size. In I walk and advise it's no good looks like I'm buying it after all, so out comes the £6.99 and pay for item and try to fit in the car park. To my dismay after a couple of minutes still no joy still doesn't fit. I walk back in and tell the chap, he walks off thinking I must be some kind of tool shaking his head slightly. There I stand for a few minutes and he returns with a clip in hand an advises that this was with the parts section give it a try.

IT FITS, result!! and he offers me a refund I say 'Thank you yes please and leave'

So hats off, good helpful staff and good customer service and subsequently leaving me very satisfied... Thank you and well done.

Either that or he's just woken up. Eating cheese before bedtime is often the cause of a bad dream...

Pretty good service, I usually only get assistance finding stuff from the morons who are just inept, but on occasion there's an old guy that works there and will bend over backwards to help you.

I think the problem is that the company has had so many changes in owners and changes in direction that the staff at the coal face do not know what the current management policy is at any one time.

I believe that the current chairman is getting to grips with the problems and is planning a £multi million investment.

I dont think the "current chairman" has yet realised what the real issues in that business are....... And as for the CEO he evidently has not a clue about day to day reality in the core business; its all about aquisitions and building the group while the main business is withering from lack of leadership, poor communications and exit of the people who carried the business forward through the boots ownership , private equity and floatation all of which were great successes.
Recent visits indicate that the city is waking up to the fact that there are fundemental issues in the operating model and strategy in stores.
However OP Im really chuffed you found a great person to help you there are still some left...... for now.
