Hi guys, since I am new to the UK and am unsure what cars cost to insure, what is the best comparison site that most of you use? I am just wanting to do a quick check to see if there are any obviously too expensive to insure cars that I want to cross of the list. It is for my Mrs and she is looking at Mazda 6, CX-7, Honda Civic, Vauxhall Insignia, BMW 3 and MB C Class etc.

Nothing to exciting but if one was twice the price of another similar priced car it would definitely make a difference to the choice.

Also I used the one on Auto trader and it asks you a ton of questions which is fine but it even asks if you have a job or own your own house. Does that make a difference to the quote? I mean if I get a quote for £600 because I have only just got here and would have got it for £400 when I have a job or bought a house I wouldn't be happy.

Let me know!

Cheers.

The job you do affects how safe a driver you are, hence the likely cost to an insurer.

Owning your own means you are more "sensible" so less likely to have an accident or get your car stolen (or attempt to defraud the insurer...).

I was a home owner in Australia and worked for BMW in Sales too. Now I have no job and don't own my own home. Hero to unemployed zero then hey? Great!
