Unfortunately last Wed I hit black ice or something similar whilst doing 70mph in my 350Z, luckily for me and my partner we escaped un hurt but the car is a write off,
They have told me they will be looking at Glasses guide as a valuation, my question about this is do they look at trade or the real world value?

I have read you should reject their first offer then provide pics of adverts of similar cars that are live to show the current value?

Anyone work in claims who can advise or any other help will be greatly appreciated.

Why don't you have a good look through the classifieds & get a feel for the sort of price your car would've sold for & then wait & see what the insurance company actually offer you?

Not sure the title is the best way to get any responses regarding your question!

Which is why I'm not going to post anything that can help. If you asked anything about black ice however I'm your man! thumbup

Good thing you didn't post this in the Politics forum or you'd get people asking "What's wrong with white ice?!? Bloody minority in our own country these days" etc.

Be prepared to haggle. They will come in with a low offer and expect you to take it. Do some research on what your car is really worth.

This is important. They WILL initially give you a low offer - you need armed with evidence of what current prices in the market are for cars of as similar spec to yours as possible - emphasise to them the very high standard you kept your car to and back this up with pictures (if applicable) - reject their first offer and be prepared to bargain hard.

If you're getting to edit the thread in General Gassing you may want to do the same with this one tongue out
