Hi

It is coming up time for a change of company car, and am looking for some advice I have the following criteria which I am struggling to get anything other than utterly dull to fit.

I currently drive a Skoda scout, others using Passats mainly so around that budget, car will be on 3 year lease.

-Must be Diesel
-Comfortable enough for 50,000 miles+ a year
-Seat four adults comfortably
-Reasonable spec, cruise control, climate etc
-Be able to tow minimum of 1600kg without fuss
-Now to savage on company car tax

Now the tricky bit, the towing is to motocross races, so the 4x4 of the scout is very useful for towing in and out of grass fields/pits, also job requires use of alot of farm drives etc.

Would love to go down the hilux route due to reduced car tax however 34mpg is a touch savage of 150,000 miles in 3 years.

Any body got any ideas, Volvo xc looks to expensive, subaru?

Thanks

Skoda Yeti?

I`ve not read a bad report on them yet, both `Evo` & `Car` love their long term cars.

Keeping in the Skoda vein. One of the diesel Octavia 4x4 estates or are you looking for a bit more ground clearance?

Not sure the yeti is big enough, or really a motorway car.

I wasn't aware skoda made a 4x4 octavia that wasn't the higher scout, i will look into it the 4x4 is more important that the ground clearance.

Thanks

what about an a3 diesel quattro? seems to tick all the boxes, might be a bit more fun to drive than the other choices.

KIA? Is it the Sportage?

I've never heard a bad word about a Subaru Legacy.

Instead of trying to make a company car not dull go ultra dull.

treat it as transport and have other fun things in your life. You are never going to get anything that qualifies as a company car that is truely interesting.

You can also get a 4x4 Skoda Superb, which would be a little more stable as a tow car with 1600kg on the back and a very good motorway cruiser.

The new Hyundai iX35 is supposed to be pretty good.

Have a look at various options on the HJ website: http://www.honestjohn.co.uk/road-tests/hyundai/hyu...

Impreza Boxer Diesel? seems to tick most of those boxes. Not sure about towing capacity but is 4WD, seats 4, has cruise/climate etc. Mine does 48mpg and has had no issues whatsoever in 13000 miles. Might be worth looking at.

Is the car going to be "bought" by the comapny via a lease? If so they end to shy away from Subarus, or other non-mainstream cars due to the residuals being too low.

You're asking for a lot of car, but I think the Skoda route is proabbaly going to give you the most bang for your buck.

I've got a 335 Ci and will be getting an M3 next time round, so it is possible.

Yep, nothing wrong with this!

You get a LOT of car for your money. 170bhp TDI with 4x4 in 'Elegance' trim from £25k. Combined emissions 163g/km which is pretty impressive given the size and 4x4 drivetrain.

Shedload of spec as standard. Highlights:

  1. 18" alloys 7.5J x 18 225/40 R18 92Y
  2. Electrically adjustable body coloured door mirrors (with integrated indicators and memory function)
  3. 4 Spoke leather multi-function steering wheel
  4. Dual-zone air conditioning
  5. Cruise control
  6. Electrically adjustable front seats, driver's seat with memory (no storage box under passenger seat)
  7. ESP (electronic stabilisation programme)
  8. Glove compartment cooling system
  9. Bi-Xenon lights with AFS (Adaptive Front-light System)
  10. Heated front seats
  11. 3.5mm Aux socket
  12. Front fog lights with cornering function
  13. Full leather upholstery
  14. Premium GSM III telephone preparation with Bluetooth® (UHV and rSAP)
  15. navigation system (MID)
