Honda Approved Warranty?

Hi guys,

Thinking of buying the Mrs a Civic tomorrow and want to know how good of a warranty the Honda Approved one is? The say it has to have genuine Honda service history & mileage, and also no major accidents. Does it also guarantee a clear HPI or do I have to still check it? I want to know what exactly does that mean? I don't want to be bothered looking privately and risk an accident repaired car for her.

I am presuming they will still spray a bumper before sale and touch up some scratches but would say a painted bonnet, front bar and guards from running up the back of a car still pass for Honda Approved?

Do I still need to get it independently inspected?

They should give you a HPI - ask for it.
Manufacturer warranties are usually sound.

The 'approved' status means little.

Don't you only get an 'approved' warranty if you've bought the car from a Honda dealer?
Don't think you can one on a privately bought car.

I've been looking a Civic's for a while now - try and get an EX spec if you can, there's not much these want for in bells and whistles.

Yeah it's from Honda only. I just want to know how good it is before I buy.

I'd confirm it with them, but I was under the impression its exactly the same as the 3 year warranty you get from them on any new car.

You can even extend that warranty for an additional 3 years too - can't see for how much though:

We bought a Jazz, approved from Honda dealer, they wouldn't fix a scuff on the bumper but that was because we negotatied a decent discount.
Ours had a HPI check done, just ask to see it if the don't offer it

Never had to use the warranty, the Honda seems to be so reliable it is bordering on boring.

Honda `s warranty is good from my experience.

The tailgate motor on my Accord Tourer failed at 5 years and 50,000 miles. Although it was obviously out of warranty, Honda made a goodwill gesture and supplied the part. I paid for fitment.
