My next door neighbours husband is coming up on his 40th and his wife has asked me what rally experience to get him. We live in Bath, but can travel.. What are the best ones around.

Cheers

Problem with all these experiences is that there much talking and little actual driving, thats what I would be looking at

Rally school days seem to offer more seat time for your money, but they are more expensive.

Just looked at that, looks like you do get a lot of seat time for your money and I didn't think it was THAT expensive really.

I did a half-day at everyman racing near me in Leicestershire (prestwold hall). There was a safety briefing, then as follows:-

  • Kart's, whilst waiting for others in the rally cars - great idea, stops "dead time"
  • Nova on a gravel surface, apoint 15-20 mins in the car
  • Polo on a very loose surface, i could only describe it as ball bearings covered in oil - about 10-15 mins in the car
  • Evo on tarmac - not as long in the evo as they use it for their shorter experiences too - i got about 8 laps of the coned track they had laid out
I have no idea how expensive it was (a present 5 years ago), but it was very enjoyable IMHO

That's pretty much answered my questions in my other thread. Sounds amazing!

I did the Bronze Rally experience there. Cost my gf about £60 I think.

Turned up, went into the reception. Filled in a waiver and a guy pushed me to the front of the queue as it was going to be dark early and the rally part was not busy. I was in the car within half an hour of arriving, no safety briefing or training.
We went round the tracks (soft gravel and tarmac) and the driver talked me through a couple of techniques. Took about ten mins. Then we swapped seats and I got probably 30 mins.

It was a great experience. I would like to have done the longer sessions but if they just flesh it out with training and cups of tea I'm glad I did the Bronze one smile
