I'm not sure I believe the "Sold via PistonHeads" phrase. One of the cars I own was found on PH (but was also on eBay and AutoTrader. While testing and buying it I never mentioned PH - yet a few days after I bought it the PistonHeads advert proudly stated it had been sold through the site. Considering I wasn't a contributing member at the time of purchase and I'd never given PH any attention at the time, seems a bit odd!

To add some balance, my VX was sourced through PH and was mentioned heavily when talking to the dealer. That claim was well founded!

From memory, there's not a "sold on Autotrader" button =)

Really? We don't set ads as sold, the advertiser does that themselves. Very odd that one.

As for the G? I didn't buy it smile

Slightly off topic but I find it bloody annoying.

I frequently am looking for a new car and having to scan through 10+ "Sold" cars for each search is pointless and bloody frustrating when you realise the ideal spec car that's close to you has just been sold !

As many now have to pay for ads it doesn't seem too much to ask that the search function is improved too.

I asked about it years ago but its still cr@p.

Cars I have searched for today

V8 (can't search for manual only)
Supercharged
Super charged
Super charger (Ebay these 3 can be done in one search)
182 (some aren't listed in Ren Sport)

On Ebay (with saved searches) this takes seconds, on here it takes 30 mins upwards.

I agree. Who wants to wade through pages of incorrect models to see if something pops up. Leave that to those who do it for a hobby! Buy on AT, sell on PH wink

How did you contact the seller?

Given the two threads chuckling at the cost of this car, more likely is that the seller withdrew the advert in the hope that people would stop laughing at the thought of paying that much for a diesel G

That is rather strange... never mind, a sold car is a sold car.

Got in touch through eBay as I wanted to ask some questions.

I've been a member for ages. How come I have to pay for Premium ads?

I've not yet sold a car through PH but I am guessing that when the seller marks the car as sold, the advert reads "Sold by Pistonheads" even if the sale was actually made elsewhere.

If this is the case then technically sellers should withdraw their adverts rather than mark as sold, if they don't want this message to appear.

When sold you get the option to just put it as sold or sold via pistonheads.
