I'm due a new company car (leased) but I'm just wondering what the lead times are?

It's a VW Golf Bluemotion and I think it was ordered around the start of December. As a result, I'm going to be in a hire car for the time being.

My current company car (Peugeot) took about 3 months from being ordered to arriving on my driveway. Can I expect a similar wait of around 3 months?

The Golf will probably be basic spec so would that make any difference on timescales? What's VW's current lead/build times like?

I would assume it was ordered via the leasing company so would that have anything to do with the long wait?

Cheers.

how long is a piece of string. If it is a standard or common spec, it could be days, built to order, then around 8-12 weeks.

It's just a basic spec.

I have but they don't seem to know.

The reason I ask on here, as there might be a ph'er who works for VW sales or maybe works for a leasing company?

I ordered 5 Golf Bluemotions in metallic paint and no options, back in July. They are due for delivery in Jan. Serious delays on most VAG product at the moment.

I've just sorted out my companies fleet cars and the lead time I've been given in 6-8 months. It is about 1500 of them and they are mainly Audi's an BMW's, but might give you an idea!

Friend of mine ordered an A3 cab and it ended up taking nearly 6 months....when it was delivered it had a blue roof instead of black so had to be returned to the factory (as red car with blue roof looked really stupid - if the car was white they'd have probably got away with it!)

Yes I had the wrong Audi delivered in August. I wouldn't let the guy unload it from the transporter 'for me to sort out with Audi later as he had another car to pick up' he was well peeved. Not as much as me though after waiting since May.

I'm guessing you ordered extras with yours though?

Have you had a reason for the delay?

The reason they gave is that VW UK haven't got enough allocated units for 2010. But that doesnt really explain why it only effects certain models - BM Golfs, Passat CCs and Tiguans. I suspect it's all a big cock up really.

We've order quite a few cars at work recently.

VW scirocco, very high spec, 8 months so far.

Audi a4 lemans, a few extras, took 6 months and turned up without satnav or leather, told it will be another 7 months for the right car!

Ford fiesta - 7 months

My BMW 120d Msport with a few extras, just over 3 months.

Delays are due to money.

Because of the exchange rates around the world, they make more money selling cars abroad, so the UK is the bottom of the pile.
