Following on from the other thread I think this subject deserves a topic of it's own. What is the point of disguising steel wheels as aluminum wheels? Why not just paint the steels an aluminum colour? Alloys are painted anyway, to get their finish, their colour isn't natural.

I always liked basic painted steel wheels, but I'm sure I'm in the minority.

I will say that the fake alloys look pretty damn good.

Are you sure those aren't alloys? Can't see any steel behind it, and you can see the brake discs.

I've got good old fashioned wheel covers. They don't even try to be fake alloys, completely non pretentious.

I got rid of the fussy alloys on my Scirocco for some lovely, plain and easy to look after steel wheels. I prefer them to any factory alloy on the Scirocco:

My Mrs knows when she is near the kerb by the sparks. Steelies resist her parking far better.

There definitely steels. Better than ford alloys as they buckle over the slightest pothole.

Reminds me when my Uni mate got a brand new VW Polo bought for her 21st and her dad says to her "You'll have to take care when parking this one, its alloys on this one." (She had a polo before)

She swiftly asked me the first time I was in her car "Whats alloys and how is it different from my previous wheels?"

They look fantastic, make no mistake.

I also like the bum basic BMW Mini's on steels. Again, a very simple and (to me therefore) atractive design.

Nice to see a thread about this. I was 100% sure they were alloys on the other thread!

If they are the same as the as the astra ones which vauxhall call structure wheels they will be a 5 spoke steel under the cover which covers the wheel completly.

The wheels on the Focus are exactly the same as those.
