Tyre load ratings and sidewall stiffness
Discussion
Hi all,
my car requires extra load rating tyres which in itself is not a problem. I am at the minute looking at buying a replacement set and noticed the Khumo KU31 is now in the size I require and at a price of 50% of my usual choice.
Having had very good results with Khumo's in the past I am not adversed to trying a set considering I can get two rears for the price of one of my normal brand.
My question is with regards to sidewall stiffness. The current brand are 96Y XL and the Khumo's are 100Y XL. Surely the extra load rating would translate into a stiff sidewall? The profile is only a 35 so not a large sidewall. So after such an opener should a 100Y have a stiffer sidewall than a 96Y?
Thanks
