I had this idea of making snowsocks so cut up an old t-shirt (around the torso in two strips) and pulled them over the rear wheels of the E30 325i that hasn't been able to move for the last few days. I get in, roll the car backwards to complete rolling the cloth over the tyre, stick it in reverse and drove without a hitch all the way up my inclined and snow covered driveway. It works a treat.

Not a bad idea at all for getting you out of a bind, I do have some old t-shirts somewhere....

I'll give that a try. Just a little concerned that one may slip off onto the inside of the wheel and get caught up on the brakes/drive shaft etc.

ETA: FWD van.

You could easily run some string on an X pattern across the one side to stop that from happening.

That's pretty impressive then! I've found a couple of old t-shirts so will definitely give it a try when I next get a little stuck. thumbup

It's the rubber brake hose I'd be worried about

Sounds like a great idea but Id be worried that the thing would end up getting tangled up on the driveshafts or brake discs!

To be fair, I can tear a t-shirt in half using my hands. I think that if this found its way onto the drive shaft it would just shred without causing damage.

And when I made these up, I had no intention of doing anything other that getting from my driveway to the main road at a slow speed anyway. It's just an idea that might help someone if they needed to move the car over a short distance.

Large cable ties through the wheel, around the tyres works a treat too.

You can even drive off with them on and they eventually come off but since they are so thin cause no harm.

Those hot pants wouldn't fit the Vette tires, but I would love to try!
