Is everybody an egocentric ****tard?
Discussion
Ok, so this morning I drive through an industrial road with loads of traffic, one lane each way.
It was particulary slippery, the road covered in half an inc ICE (not snow, ice, thick enough to skate on!).
So, I keep a safe distance, about 100ft from the person in front of me at 20mph. Then her car (yaris) starts "wobbling", losing control and sliding sideways in slowmotion, front wheels in the snow covered mud on the side of the road.
I brake, feel that I have almost no traction but my safe distance (and, dare I say it, winter tyres
) get me to a halt at about 10ft. I back up a bit, put on my 4 indicators, and get out, almost going on my face in the progress as it really was a thick layer of ice on the road.
The woman was pretty shocked but everything was fine and I said we'll try and "rock" the car out. It just needed about two feet, but as you can imagine with a women behind the wheel and just me pushing (with no grip), it was pretty slow.
Now, behind my car was building up a traffic jam as far as the eye can see, as the couldn't pass because there was traffic in the other direction, I went on my knees a couple of times but after about 10 min of impatient drivers driving past and HONKING THEIR f
kING HORNS, I get her out and we were on our way.
THERE WAS A 2 MILE TRAFFIC JAM BEHIND US, YET NONE OF THE EGOCENTRIC ASOCIAL f
kTARDS FOUND IT NECESSARY TO COME OUT OF THEIR FUGLY ASS WASHING MACHINES??? She could have been on her way in 2 min if a couple of guys helped pushing, yet the knobs really thought they were the only ones that had to go to work this morning.
I'm really losing hope in these people, and I fear for the worst if I ever get stuck like the poor woman this morning.

all of the cars were probably motorbility vehicles driven by people with fake bad backs, they didnt want to be photographed pushing
happened to me this morning. I stopped for petrol and while leaving the service station I stopped and helped a woman in her audi with ultra-low tyres to get over the iced ruts. A d

Notice my z3 was fine, not stuck, just stopped there with the hazards on so I could help the woman in front.

head in some SUV just goes past me and with the window half down shouts "you and your f

It got me f
king furious. To the point I would actually grab the
from the SUV and teach him a lesson but was too "surprised" to actually react quickly enough.
Sounds like a fellow PH'er to me.

I agree with the OP though. There are some real selfish arses about who would be the first to b

Well, I believe in karma and I sincerely hope someone helps me when I'm stuck.
I always stop when I see someone struggling, as I did years ago when I drove the Nissan Patrol on a daily basis.
But today was the first time it annoyed me so much, as there was so much traffic and everybody saw her going sideways, yet nobody bothered to get out of their car, just standing there impatiently

Yup. Nobody understands the concept of "for the greater good". They don't help because they simply don't understand that if they did, it would mean the road was cleared and they could be on their way.
It's the same kind of people who drive onto a roundabout and block it in heavy traffic, and the same people who will drive as far forward as possible when squeezing through a chicane of parked cars, oblivious to the fact they've now blocked the oncoming cars from passing back the other way, thus gridlocking the whole scenario.
Thing is, you just can't teach the "Big Picture" to people.

I helped somwbody once.... waiting at a bus stop (just dropped my car off for a service) this guy walks over to his mini, gets in and... nothing, he's their for a couple of minutes trying to start it so I ask him if he wants help starting it with a push, yes please his reply. So just getting ready and my bus comes, I mention to him that my bus is here he says no problem he can drop me into town... great. so 3rd attempt the guy bumps it with me pushing it and drops into gear and disapears off into the distance. Bye.
....and thats why I don't stop to help.

O/T but another similar example is people approaching roadworks and a temporary red traffic light. They bafflingly bunch right up to the car in front and block a side exit to the left, causing the traffic from the opposite direction to grind to a halt when the one car that was indicating to turn right into said side street cannot do so due to one or two selfish, short sighted drivers failure to see that big picture.

I'm sorry to hear that... as well as I'm sorry you won't stop next time you see me while I'm stuck ....and thats why I don't stop to help.

If YOU were that mini driver.. I FORGIVE YOU...there thats better.
T'other day I was in a Market Square in a high top Vivaro, on a slight incline, behind 3 cars as the VW Transporter at the top was stuck and couldn't get going.
So I approach slowly until I definitely have to stop, VW man is still going nowhere, spinning the wheels and generally acting like a f
king knobsocket. So I pop the handbrake on, walk past the other 2 cars sitting still behind him, and approach the window. I make the universal "wind your window down mate" motion. The following exchange occurs:
Me: <cheerfully> Stick her in second mate and I'll....
Him: <interrupting> *TUT* It is in second!
Me: <looking past at the dash-mounted gearstick, which is in first> Put it in second, least amount of throttle possible and I'll give you a push, and don't be so f
king rude to people trying to help you!
Him: <grunting noises>
Got him going instantly. Everybody else managed it too. Mong. To be fair he did shout "Thanks" out of the window and give me a thumbs up, so maybe he was just frustrated.
